A HEARTWARMING dog show has raised more than £2,000 for a greyhound rescue centre in the Maldon district.

Clarks Farm Greyhound Rehoming Centre held its annual dog show at the King George V Playing Field in Heybridge, welcoming hundreds of visitors and their four-legged friends.

The event was supported by Caroline Coastal FM, with presenters announcing competition winners and providing entertainment throughout the day.

In addition to raising much needed funds, one of the home’s longest-serving residents, greyhound Syd, found his “forever home” when he was adopted on the day.

A spokesperson for the centre said the team was “over the moon” about the success of the event held last Sunday (September 8).

They said: “Seeing Syd finally get the chance he deserves was the cherry on top of an already unforgettable day.

“Thanks to your generosity, we raised an astounding £2,400!

“That will make a world of difference to the hounds in our care, helping us continue our mission to find them loving forever homes.”

Volunteer Liam Stubbings described the show as “a massive success”.

He added: “The day wouldn’t have been a success without the support of the public, all our stall holders and the great DJs at Caroline Coastal. Bring on 2025.”

Joshua Holmes-Bright, assistant station manager at Caroline Coastal, said: “Despite the intermittent rain, this was an incredibly fun event for the team to be involved with.

"Presenters of all ages got to host awards in front of the crowds, play music from our outside set up, and interview guests.

“The Clarks Farm team was a joy to work with, and many of the dog owners we spoke to said the same!”
