Man dies following Purleigh crash as driver arrested on suspicion of drug driving

A YOUNG man has died and another has been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving, following a crash in Purleigh.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Officers were called to the scene of the single-vehicle crash in Hackmans Lane, shortly after 2.30am yesterday (January 6).

Sadly, a man aged in his twenties was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family has been informed.

A second man, also in his twenties, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

The man, from Brentwood, has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Meanwhile, the road reopened to traffic yesterday afternoon.
